Desventajas: The rental office was closed when we arrived so we never got to get our car and had to rent from another company last minute for $200 extra dollars! We were very disappointed.
Desventajas: Need more training in communications with clients, and more honesty
Ventajas: Understaffed, took forever to get through the line. No LAX shuttle had to take a city bus.
Desventajas: Car drove fine but smelled horribly of cigarettes.
Ventajas: Not a whole lot.
Desventajas: The shuttle process is very unclear and took some research on our part to understand. We had to first get on an LA City Bus line to take us to a drop-off point where we waited out on the street for 20 minutes for the shuttle driver to arrive to take us to the rental lot. Once at the rental office it took a full hour to reach the counter when there were only two other customers ahead of us, one with a reservation. This appeared to be normal as there were many customers waiting when we returned the car as well. We had to cancel and change other reservations we made for the day as we were not expecting to spend an hour and half waiting for a car when it usually takes 30 minutes or less. The car itself was fine, however the $300 hold was unexpected and 5x the actual rental price which is astronomical and we’re lucky to have had that amount available when we weren’t expecting to be charged anywhere near that amount.
Desventajas: 1) Switch and bait on car selection.
2) Badly damaged vehicle.
3) Unfriendly (even condescending) service.
Desventajas: 1. "Swith and bait" on the advertised vehicle.
2. Badly damaged vehicle, even the bumper was not secured to the body of the car.
3. Condescending service.
4. Whatever the saving was, DEFINITELY NOT worth it.
5. Will not go back to Economy or even Kayak Car Rental
Ventajas: Perhaps the price, if anything. Will not go back to Economy Rent a Car again; will certainly pay a bit more for an agency that has a bit more integrity, cleanliness and at least a "thank you."
Desventajas: "Swith and bait" on the advertised vehicle. I was even ridiculed by the rental agent when I asked about the vehicle in the advertisement. Vehicle was badly damaged. Forget the scratches and dents, even the bumper was not secured to the body of the car. Seats had burnt marks and stains, in addition to the smell. Poor service when I returned the car, as if Economy was "doing me a favor" by renting the vehicle to me. 1st time and my last time...
Ventajas: The staff was polite.
Desventajas: You have to take not one but two shuttles from the airport. The first shuttle drops you off in a fairly random parking lot where you wait for the next shuttle. With all (seemingly unavoidable) fees the daily price was nearly triple the posted price. The car had relatively low mileage but was pretty banged up. I had to keep pushing the front-right fender back into place. This isn't necessarily Kayak's fault -- they probably have to list all providers. But "Economy Rent a Car Los Angeles" is low rent but not low cost. For just a dollar or two more than their advertised price I could have gotten a much better car, more conveniently, and for *only* a dollar or two more than their advertised price instead of what I ended up being pressured into paying.
Desventajas: They could have had a shuttle, they could have been open, they could have not charged me anyway when I had to choose another provider. I will never use Kayak again.
Ventajas: Economy Car Rental didn't allow me to rent the vehicle. My license was expired by 42 days due to the DMV in Texas being closed from COVID-19. Renewing my license was/is physically impossible to my knowledge. I provided a current passport as an alternative form of identification. Alas, to no avail.
Desventajas: Be more empathetic of the customers situation. "A prepaid customer (Me) has an expired license and couldn't renew it due to the DMV offices being closed during COVID-19. This person (Me) is scheduled to meet with clients while relying on the rental car for on-time transportation. The car won't be released to the prepaid client (me). Rescheduling ensues for myself, my clients and their clients because I am now late." An incredibly rough spot to be forced into during a pandemic. You had my money and wouldn't release the vehicle. Then you wouldn't even refund my money. I took an Uber to my Turo.com car rental that morning. If my small business was structured with these unethical values, I wouldn't have a company. Expecting any type of accountability from Kayak or Economy Car rental is obviously a 0% chance. Whoever you are reading this: Start your own company. Rental car corporations are the new Blockbuster, Turo.com will surpass them. Have a wonderful DAY!!!!!
Ventajas: Staff was friendly picked up the car for me.
Desventajas: Extra $380 charge for security deposit and additional insurance on top of the plan I already purchased, plus the deposit was $150 dollars more because I used a debit card instead of credit card, which took a 200 dollar rental to over 600 bucks. It's been almost a day and I still havent seen my deposit back yet. Would have been nice to know about those charges before I made the purchase.
Ventajas: The staff was great and friendly. Easy t deal with as well.
Desventajas: Just a heads up about how you get to the rental car company. I was a little worried when the airport shuttle dropped us off in a parking lot and we had to wait for a van. Not that big of a deal once we found out, but initially was worried.
